Millions of EPF subscribers across India may face temporary inconvenience as the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has temporarily suspended several online services due to a major technology upgrade.

The temporary shutdown will affect important services such as PF claim submissions, balance checks, and UAN-related facilities available through both the EPFO portal and the UMANG app.

The move is part of EPFO’s effort to strengthen its software systems and improve the overall experience for subscribers in the future.

EPFO Portal Services Closed for Three Days

According to an official EPFO notice, the organisation is carrying out a planned migration and database upgrade to make its digital services more secure and efficient.

As a result, online claim submission and processing services on the EPFO portal have been suspended from 12:00 AM on June 26

and will remain unavailable until 11:59 PM on June 28, 2026. All services are expected to resume from 12:00 AM on June 29.

During this period, subscribers will not be able to submit fresh online claims. Existing claims that were submitted before the shutdown will also be processed only after the services are restored.

UMANG App Services to Remain Unavailable Until July 2

Apart from the EPFO portal, PF-related services on the government’s UMANG app will also remain suspended until July 2, 2026, due to scheduled maintenance work.

This means that millions of users will not be able to access several important PF services through the app for the next few days.

The affected services include checking PF balance, filing new claims, tracking claim status, accessing UAN-related services, registering complaints, and applying for Scheme Certificates and Life Certificates.

Why Has EPFO Taken This Step?

EPFO says the temporary shutdown is necessary to upgrade its technology infrastructure and consolidate its database systems. The objective is to make digital services faster, more secure, and more reliable.

The organisation expects that the upgrade will help reduce claim settlement time and provide a better experience to subscribers in the coming months.

What Should PF Subscribers Do?

Subscribers with urgent PF-related work may have to wait until the services are restored.

The EPFO portal is expected to become operational again on June 29, while services on the UMANG app are scheduled to resume from July 2, 2026.
