There is good news for crores of EPFO members across India. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has credited the FY2025-26 interest to around 35 crore member accounts in a record time.

For the first time, the entire interest amount was credited on July 15 itself. Last year, the process continued until September. This year, EPFO auto-processed around ₹1.44 lakh crore in interest through its new central database.

Why was the interest credited so quickly?

The biggest reason behind the faster credit is EPFO’s new technology upgrade. The organisation merged 123 separate regional databases into one national database, making the entire process much faster.

During this upgrade, nearly 1,700 crore transactions and employer records were shifted to the new system.

The migration was completed on June 30, after which the interest was calculated automatically and verified by officials.

Along with interest credit, EPFO also cleared around 11 lakh pending claims worth ₹3,000 crore in one go.

How to check your PF interest

You can easily check whether the interest has been credited using these methods.

Through the EPFO Passbook Portal

Visit the official EPFO Passbook (e-Sewa) portal.

Log in using your 12-digit UAN, password and captcha.

Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.

Open Passbook Lite to check your PF balance, contributions and credited interest.

Through the UMANG App

Download and open the UMANG app.

Go to EPFO Services.

Log in with your UAN and OTP.

Tap View Passbook to see your PF balance and interest details.

What if the interest is not showing yet?

EPFO has clarified that there is no need to worry if the interest entry is not visible in your passbook immediately.

Due to the ongoing system migration, some passbooks may take time to update. However, members will not lose any interest.

Under Paragraph 60 of the EPF Scheme, 1952, interest is calculated on the monthly running balance. Even if the passbook entry is delayed, the full interest amount will be credited to your account.
