Canara Bank customers need to know about an important change in ATM charges.

The bank has revised its ATM transaction rules from September 1, 2026.

Under the new rules, general savings account customers will get fewer free ATM transactions every month.

The bank has also increased charges for cash withdrawals after the free limit and for certain failed transactions.

However, senior citizens will continue to get the same number of free transactions as before.

Free ATM Transactions Reduced

Earlier, general savings account customers could make up to 6 free ATM transactions in a calendar month.

From September 1, this limit has been reduced to 5 transactions per month.

The free limit includes both financial and non-financial transactions.

This means cash withdrawals as well as services such as balance enquiries and mini statements may count towards the monthly limit.

There is no change for senior citizens. They will continue to get 8 free ATM transactions every month.

Cash Withdrawal Charges Increased

Once the free transaction limit is exhausted, customers will have to pay more for cash withdrawals.

Earlier, Canara Bank charged ₹20 plus GST for financial transactions after the free limit. This charge has now increased to ₹23 plus GST.

The revised charge also applies to ICCW transactions, which allow customers to withdraw cash using UPI.

For non-financial transactions after the free limit, there is no change. Customers will continue to pay ₹5 plus GST.

Failed ATM Transactions Will Cost More

Customers should also check their account balance before attempting a withdrawal.

If an ATM transaction fails because there is not enough money in the account, a higher charge may apply after the applicable free transaction limit is exhausted.

The charge for such failed transactions has increased from ₹17 plus GST to ₹23 plus GST. The revised fee applies to transactions at Canara Bank as well as other bank ATMs, subject to the applicable rules.

Green PIN Service Becomes Cheaper

While some ATM charges have increased, Canara Bank has reduced the fee for Green PIN regeneration after the free limit for certain card variants.

The charge has been reduced from ₹23 to ₹5 for Classic, Standard, Platinum, Business, Select and World cards.

What Canara Bank Customers Should Know

From September 1, 2026, general savings account customers get 5 free ATM transactions per month instead of 6, while senior citizens continue to get 8.

Cash withdrawals after the free limit now cost ₹23 plus GST, while non-financial transactions continue to cost ₹5 plus GST. Customers should keep track of their monthly ATM usage to avoid unnecessary charges.
