BSNL Recharge Plans now come with an added insurance benefit on selected prepaid plans.
The government telecom company is offering free insurance cover with its Rs 202 and Rs 2,449 prepaid plans, without charging customers any separate insurance premium.
BSNL has partnered with The Oriental Insurance Company Limited (OICL) for this facility. Eligible customers can get accidental death cover of up to Rs 1 lakh along with cyber fraud protection of up to Rs 10,000.
BSNL Recharge Plans With Free Insurance
The insurance benefit is currently available only with the Rs 202 and Rs 2,449 plans. Customers do not need to purchase a separate insurance policy or pay an additional premium.
The cover is linked to the eligible recharge and is activated as per the terms of the offer. BSNL will send insurance-related information to customers through SMS after the eligible recharge.
Benefits of the Rs 202 Plan
The Rs 202 plan comes with a validity of 30 days. It provides 300 minutes of voice calling, 5GB of data and 100 SMS messages.
Along with these regular benefits, customers get accidental death insurance cover of up to Rs 1 lakh and cyber fraud protection of up to Rs 10,000.
This makes the plan an option for customers looking for a shorter-validity recharge with additional insurance protection.
Benefits of the Rs 2449 Plan
The Rs 2,449 plan is designed for customers who want longer validity and fewer recharge requirements. It comes with a validity of 365 days, or one year.
The plan offers unlimited local, STD and roaming voice calls, along with 2GB of data and 100 SMS messages per day. It also includes accidental death cover of up to Rs 1 lakh and cyber fraud protection of up to Rs 10,000.
Customers choosing this plan can therefore get the insurance benefit along with their regular annual telecom services.
Cyber Fraud Cover Has a Key Condition
The cyber fraud protection included with both plans covers losses of up to Rs 10,000 related to online fraud. This includes fraud involving online theft, phishing and email spoofing.
However, customers need to meet an important condition to qualify for the cyber fraud cover. Their BSNL mobile number must be linked to their bank account.
The insurance facility is currently limited to the two eligible prepaid plans. Customers should check the applicable terms and insurance details received from BSNL before relying on the cover.
