The revised allowance will raise the DA rate from 58 per cent to 60 per cent of basic salary, with effect from January 2026.

The announcement also brings relief to pensioners, who will receive a 2 per cent increase in Dearness Relief (DR) from July 2026.

Employees will receive their pending DA arrears for January to September in three equal monthly instalments.

The enhanced DA will be paid in cash along with the October 2026 salary, which employees are scheduled to receive in November.

The decision provides additional financial support to serving employees as well as retired government personnel.

Madhya Pradesh DA Hike: What Changes for Employees?

According to the announcement made by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on October 30, the state government has approved a 2 percentage-point increase in DA for government employees and officers.

With this revision, the allowance will increase from 58 per cent to 60 per cent of basic pay. The revised rate will apply retrospectively from January 2026.

This means eligible employees will receive the benefit for the months beginning January, even though the announcement was made in October.

The outstanding amount will be released in instalments rather than as a single payment.

For employees, the revised allowance will increase their monthly salary based on their individual basic pay. The actual financial benefit will therefore differ from one employee to another.

How Will Employees Receive Nine Months of DA Arrears?

The state government has decided to clear pending DA payments for the nine-month period from January to September 2026 in three equal monthly instalments.

In addition to these arrears, the increased DA will be paid in cash with the October salary, payable in November.

This arrangement means employees will receive the revised monthly allowance along with the first applicable arrears payment. The remaining arrears will be distributed through the subsequent instalments.

The instalment-based arrangement allows the government to clear the outstanding dues over three months while implementing the revised allowance.

Pensioners to Receive 2% Dearness Relief Increase

Along with the employee DA revision, the Madhya Pradesh government has approved a 2 per cent increase in Dearness Relief for pensioners.

However, the effective date for retired employees is different from that applicable to serving staff.

The revised Dearness Relief will be effective from July 2026. This means eligible pensioners will receive the benefit for the period beginning July, as per the applicable payment arrangements.

Dearness Relief is the pension-related benefit corresponding to Dearness Allowance paid to serving government employees.

It is intended to help retired personnel manage the impact of inflation and rising living expenses.

The announcement therefore extends the financial benefit beyond serving government employees to include eligible retired government personnel.

Why the Madhya Pradesh DA Revision Matters

Dearness Allowance is an important component of government employees’ salaries. It is calculated as a percentage of basic pay and revised periodically to account for changes in the cost of living.

The latest Madhya Pradesh DA Hike comes shortly after the Union government approved a 3 percentage-point increase in DA for central government employees and Dearness Relief for pensioners on October 28, 2026.

The Centre increased its DA rate from 60 per cent to 63 per cent, effective from July 1, 2026. Madhya Pradesh has raised its employees’ DA from 58 per cent to 60 per cent.

Consequently, a difference of three percentage points remains between the DA rates applicable to Madhya Pradesh state employees and central government employees.

For state employees, the latest decision means a higher monthly allowance, along with arrears for the first nine months of 2026. Pensioners will also receive the benefit of the revised relief from July.
