Road connectivity in the country is improving at a fast pace, with highways and expressways connecting many states. However, drivers often face the hassle of paying toll tax while traveling.

The good news is that the government has made a major decision to provide relief. Now, toll tax has been made completely free under certain conditions.

New Toll Tax Rules Announced

In a significant move, the government has allowed drivers across the country to pass through toll plazas without paying taxes if specific criteria are met.

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has issued a new rule: if a vehicle is stuck at a toll plaza for more than 10 seconds, the driver will not need to pay the toll tax. Drivers can also report delays to NHAI and get an exemption.

Additionally, if the queue at a toll plaza exceeds 100 meters, drivers can lodge a complaint with NHAI and avoid paying toll charges.

Relief for Drivers in Other Situations

Drivers can also avoid toll payments if the Fastag machine at the toll plaza is not functioning. This ensures that no unnecessary burden is placed on commuters.

These new rules have brought great relief to people traveling on highways, making road travel smoother and more convenient.

How the New Toll Tax Rules Work

The government, through the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), has introduced a new rule that provides toll tax exemptions in certain cases.

If a driver has to wait more than 10 seconds at a toll plaza, they are not required to pay any toll tax. Drivers can report delays to NHAI, and they will not be charged for the toll if the waiting time exceeds 10 seconds.

Additional Toll Tax Exemptions

There are other ways to get toll tax exemptions as well. If there is a queue of more than 100 meters at a toll plaza, drivers can also complain to NHAI and receive a toll tax exemption.

Furthermore, if the Fastag machine is not working at the toll plaza, drivers will not be required to pay the toll tax either. This new rule has provided great relief to drivers across the country.
