The Central Government has introduced a major initiative to strengthen social security for workers across the country.

Under the new Employee Enrollment Scheme (EES), employees who were left out of the EPF earlier can now be enrolled by their employers.

This special opportunity is open until April 30, 2026, and EPFO has already started a nationwide campaign to support the process.

What Is the Employee Enrollment Scheme?

The Employee Enrollment Scheme allows companies to register employees who worked between July 1, 2017, and October 31, 2025 but were never added to the EPF system.

The scheme is open to all establishments, whether or not they were previously registered with the EPFO.

New employers simply need to sign up on the Shram Suvidha Portal and get an EPF code.

The process is fully online and designed to be simple and quick.

Important Rules Every Employer Should Know

Every employee must have a UAN generated through face authentication on the Umang app.

Employers must also submit an online declaration on the EPFO portal and link it with their ECR TRRN.

If an employer did not deduct PF contributions earlier, they do not need to pay the employee’s share now.

However, they must deposit their own contribution along with 12 percent interest and a small penalty of just Rs 100.

Each employer can file only one declaration under this scheme, and only employees who are alive and currently working can be added.

Even employers facing an inquiry under Section 7A or other sections of the EPF Act can benefit.

They simply need to pay the Rs 100 penalty.

No action will be taken against employees who left the organization before the scheme was launched, as long as all eligible employees are included and there are no pending amounts where PF was deducted earlier.

Additional Benefits Under Vikasit Bharat Rozgar Yojana

Employers who register for EPF for the first time or make new declarations under the EES may also qualify for benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Vikasit Bharat Rozgar Yojana.

This gives businesses an added financial incentive to participate.

How to Register on the Shram Suvidha Portal

Registration is mandatory for establishments with 20 or more employees, and for cinema halls with 5 or more.

Smaller establishments can also register voluntarily if both the employer and most employees agree.

Here’s how to register:

Go to the Shram Suvidha Portal.

Click on the Registration and License tab.

Create a new account, verify it through email, and log in.

Select EPFO Registration.

Enter details like PAN, address, establishment date, and employee information.

Upload required documents such as address proof, setup date proof, license, and signature.

Submit the form using eSign or DSC.

Once completed, an EPF code will be issued for your establishment.

EPFO has urged all employers to make the most of this one-time scheme.

It is a valuable opportunity to bring unregistered employees under the EPF umbrella and strengthen their long-term financial security.
