Customers of Punjab National Bank may soon notice a change when withdrawing cash from ATMs.

The bank has decided to reduce the daily ATM withdrawal limit for several debit cards by up to 50 percent.

The new limits will come into effect from April 1, 2026.

According to the bank, this move is aimed at improving customer security, reducing risk, and encouraging safer digital banking practices.

ATM Withdrawal Limit Reduced for Some Cards

Under the new rule, some debit cards that earlier allowed ₹1 lakh daily ATM withdrawal will now have a limit of ₹50,000 per day.

Similarly, certain premium debit cards that previously allowed ₹1.5 lakh daily withdrawal will now be limited to ₹75,000 per day.

However, the bank has clarified that not all debit cards are affected.

Limits for many other cards remain the same. In addition, there is no change in limits for POS payments, online transactions, or contactless payments.

Debit Cards That Will Be Affected

Several premium and special debit cards will see their limits reduced.

Cards whose limit will drop from ₹1 lakh to ₹50,000 include:

RuPay NCMC Platinum Domestic Debit Card

RuPay NCMC Platinum International Debit Card

RuPay Women Power Platinum Debit Card

RuPay PNB Palaash Debit Card (recycled PVC card)

RuPay Business Platinum NCMC Debit Card

MasterCard Platinum Debit Card

VISA Gold Debit Card

PNB MasterCard Platinum Rise

Another group of cards will see the limit reduced from ₹1.5 lakh to ₹75,000, including:

RuPay Select Debit Card

PNB RuPay Select Neo

PNB RuPay Select Excel

Visa Signature Debit Card

MasterCard Business Debit Card

How Customers Can Update Their ATM Limit

Customers who want to adjust their ATM withdrawal limit within the new maximum limit can do it easily using digital banking services.

You can update the limit through internet banking, the bank’s mobile app, IVR, or WhatsApp banking.

For example, in internet banking, customers need to log in, go to Value Added Services, select Debit Card Personalization, choose the account and ATM limit option, enter the new limit, and confirm using an OTP.

The process is even simpler on the PNB One mobile app. Users can open the app, go to Services, select Debit Cards, and choose the option to update ATM or transaction limits.

Why the Bank Made This Change

The bank says the decision is mainly focused on improving security and promoting digital payments.

While the change may affect customers who regularly withdraw large amounts of cash, everyday transactions such as online payments, card swipes in stores, and contactless payments will continue without any change.

Because of this, customers are encouraged to use more digital payment options instead of relying heavily on cash withdrawals.
