SBI Card has introduced some important changes that users should know. These updates mainly affect late payment charges and benefits on BPCL SBI credit cards. Here’s everything explained in a simple way.

Late Payment Charges Increased
Under the new rules, if your outstanding credit card balance is more than ₹100 and up to ₹500, you will now have to pay a late fee of ₹100. Earlier, there was no late fee for balances up to ₹500.
For balances between ₹500 and ₹1,000, the late fee has been increased from ₹400 to ₹500. However, there is no change in charges for balances above ₹1,000. SBI Card has kept the higher slabs unchanged.
When Will You Be Charged a Late Fee?
A late payment fee is applied if you do not pay at least the minimum amount due by the due date.
If you miss paying the minimum amount for two consecutive billing cycles, an extra charge of ₹100 will be added. This charge will continue every month until you clear your dues.
Big Change for BPCL SBI Card Users
There is also an important update for BPCL SBI Credit Card holders.
Earlier, the annual fee of ₹499 was waived if you spent ₹50,000 in a year. Now, this limit has been increased to ₹1 lakh from May 1.
This means you will need to spend ₹1 lakh annually to get the ₹499 fee reversed. If you don’t reach this limit, the fee will be charged.
Important Changes Introduced in 2026
SBI Card had already updated several rules earlier this year.
From January 15, 2026, rules related to cashback and reward points were changed. Reward points must now be used within 90 days for cashback offers and within 120 days for instant discount offers.
Also, from January 10, 2026, domestic airport lounge access has been divided into Set A and Set B. Your access will now depend on the type of SBI credit card you have.
