If you are an employee whose Provident Fund (PF) is deducted every month, this news is important for you.
The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has significantly improved the settlement process for advance withdrawal claims.
Currently, 60% of these claims are being settled through an automated payment system. As a result, 2.16 crore claims have been processed in the current financial year—far more than the 89.52 lakh claims settled last year.
Higher Advance Claim Limit of Rs 1 Lakh
Labor and Employment Minister Shobha Karandlaje shared this information in a written reply in the Lok Sabha. She stated that the limit for advance withdrawals has been increased to Rs 1 lakh.
This change allows members to access their funds more easily when needed.
To speed up claim processing, EPFO has automated claims related to medical emergencies, housing, education, and marriage expenses. With this system in place, claims are now settled within just three days.
Easy Information Updates and Online Claim Filing
EPFO has introduced a new feature that allows members with an Aadhaar-verified Universal Account Number (UAN) to update their details without requiring EPFO’s approval.
Currently, 96% of such corrections can be done online, eliminating the need to visit an EPFO office.
Additionally, over 99% of claims are now being filed online. As of early March 2025, 7.14 crore claims were submitted digitally.
This digital process has reduced paperwork and increased efficiency. Furthermore, Aadhaar-verified UAN holders do not need employer verification for transfer claims, making the process even more convenient for EPFO members.
