HDFC Bank, India’s largest private sector bank, has announced a temporary UPI service disruption.
On December 13, all UPI transactions will be unavailable for four hours, from 2:30 AM to 6:30 AM.
This affects HDFC current and savings accounts, RuPay credit cards, the HDFC mobile banking app, and merchant transactions.
Customers may face difficulties in sending or receiving money during this period.
Why Is This Happening?
The bank has scheduled this downtime for system maintenance.
These updates are aimed at making services faster, safer, and more reliable.
Such maintenance is routine for banks, and account holders are notified in advance to plan accordingly.
HDFC has issued an official notification on its website regarding the downtime.
Plan Your Transactions Ahead
Customers are advised to complete UPI transactions before or after the scheduled downtime.
Other services like ATM withdrawals, credit card payments, RTGS, NEFT, and IMPS will continue to work normally.
Since the downtime falls on a Sunday, all bank branches will also remain closed.
Upcoming Downtime Alerts
HDFC Bank has also announced that UPI services will be down again on December 21, from 2:30 AM to 6:30 AM.
Earlier, on December 10, prepaid card loading, forex card top-ups, and net banking instant reload services were unavailable.
During that maintenance, domestic ATMs, POS machines, e-commerce transactions, and HDFC payment gateways were also affected.
