IndiGo has processed refunds totaling Rs 610 crore after the government directed the airline to return all pending refunds for cancelled or heavily delayed flights by 8 PM on Sunday, according to the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
Passengers are not required to pay any extra charges for rescheduling affected flights.
To ensure smooth service, IndiGo has set up special support teams to assist travellers with refunds and rebookings.
The ministry added that IndiGo’s operations are steadily improving, and its flight schedule is returning to normal.
IndiGo Flights Increasing Rapidly
The airline ramped up its operations from 706 flights on Friday to 1,565 flights on Saturday and is expected to operate around 1,650 flights by Sunday.
All other domestic airlines are running at full capacity.
Following recent flight cancellations and a temporary surge in airfares, the government introduced an immediate cap on airfares to ensure fairness and affordability.
This measure has already moderated fare levels on affected routes, and airlines have been instructed to comply strictly with the revised fare structure.
Passenger Baggage and Airport Operations
IndiGo has been asked to locate and return all baggage separated from passengers within 48 hours, keeping travellers updated throughout the process.
As of Saturday, 3,000 bags have been successfully delivered across India.
Airport operations in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Goa are now reported to be normal.
Passenger movement is smooth, with no crowding at check-in, security, or boarding.
Airports have strengthened on-ground support with better monitoring and faster deployment of staff.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation’s 24×7 Control Room continues to oversee flight operations, airport conditions, and passenger support.
Teams are actively managing operational planning, crew rostering, and passenger handling standards to ensure full compliance.
