If you are planning to visit a bank for any important work, this update is very important. Due to Christmas-related holidays, banking services will be affected for nearly a week in three northeastern states.
Continuous bank closures may create difficulties for regular customers as well as business owners, so planning ahead is essential.
Banks Closed for Five Days in Three Northeastern States
Banks in Nagaland, Mizoram, and Meghalaya will remain closed for five consecutive days, from December 24 to December 28.
These holidays include Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Christmas celebrations, the second Saturday, and Sunday.
Complete list of holidays:
December 24: Christmas Eve
December 25: Christmas
December 26: Christmas Celebration
December 27: Second Saturday
December 28: Sunday
During this period, all public and private bank branches in these states will remain closed. Services such as cash deposits and withdrawals, cheque clearance, passbook updates, demand drafts,
and other over-the-counter services will not be available. This may especially impact businesses, senior citizens, and customers who depend on offline banking.
Digital Banking Services Will Continue
Despite branch closures, digital banking services will remain functional. Net banking, mobile banking, UPI, and ATM services will continue to operate as usual.
Customers can still transfer funds, pay bills, and withdraw cash from ATMs. However, in some areas, ATMs may face cash shortages if they are not refilled on time.
Banks Closed Nationwide on December 25
On December 25, all public and private banks across India will remain closed due to Christmas.
Banking counter services will not be available nationwide on this day, so customers are advised to complete any urgent banking work in advance to avoid inconvenience.
