To reduce the growing problem of traffic jams in Panipat, the police administration has started a new odd-even rule for autos and e-rickshaws.

The move aims to improve traffic flow and make commuting easier for people in the city.

Officials have launched this plan as a seven-day trial.

If the experiment shows good results and receives support from the public, the system may be implemented permanently.

Why the Odd-Even Rule Was Introduced

The main goal of this initiative is to reduce traffic congestion, control road accidents, and provide safer and smoother transportation for residents.

According to the city’s traffic police, the number of autos and e-rickshaws in Panipat has increased significantly.

Because of this, traffic jams have become a common problem in many busy areas.

The new system is expected to help manage the situation and improve road movement across the city.

How the Odd-Even System Will Work

Suresh Saini said that the decision was taken during the monthly meeting of the District Road Safety Committee.

Under this system, vehicles with odd numbers will run on one day, while vehicles with even numbers will run the next day.

This rotation will continue throughout the week.

The scheme started on September 1 and is currently being tested for one week.

After reviewing the results of this trial, officials will decide whether to continue the system permanently.

Action Against Rule Violators

Traffic police have also warned that strict action will be taken against vehicles that break the rules.

Autos and e-rickshaws running without number plates or without the unique number stickers issued by the Municipal Corporation may face penalties.

However, in the early days of the campaign, the police are mainly focusing on creating awareness among drivers rather than issuing fines.

DCP Saini believes that if the public cooperates with the new rule, it could significantly reduce traffic jams in Panipat and make travel more convenient for everyone.
