SBI Card, the country’s largest credit card issuer, has announced an important update for all its customers. Starting November 1, 2025, new fees and charges will come into effect.
These include additional costs for education-related payments and wallet loads made using SBI Credit Cards.
1% Charge on Education Payments via Third-Party Apps
From November 1, 2025, SBI Cardholders who pay school, college, or other educational institution fees using third-party payment apps like Paytm, PhonePe, or Razorpay will have to pay a 1% transaction charge.
However, there will be no extra fee if the payment is made directly through the school or college website or via a point-of-sale (POS) machine on the campus.
1% Charge on Wallet Loads Above ₹1,000
Under the new rules, a 1% charge will also apply when customers add more than ₹1,000 to their digital wallets, such as Paytm Wallet or Amazon Pay.
For example, if you load ₹2,000 into your wallet, ₹20 will be deducted as a fee, so only ₹1,980 will be credited to your wallet.
