The State Bank of India (SBI), the country’s largest government bank, has issued an important notice for its customers.
SBI announced on X that its YONO mobile banking service will remain unavailable for one hour on September 4, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm.
SBI has over 44 crore customers, and many will be affected during this short downtime.
What Services Will Still Work?
Customers don’t need to worry about essential transactions. During this period:
UPI payments will continue to work as usual.
ATM cash withdrawals will remain available.
UPI Lite users can also transact through their on-device wallet, which does not directly connect to the bank account. This makes transactions faster and more reliable, but you must load money into the wallet in advance.
Alternative Banking Options
For urgent banking needs, customers can:
Call SBI’s toll-free helplines: 1800 1234 or 1800 2100.
Use services provided by the SBI Contact Center.
SBI has arranged these alternatives to ensure that customers face minimum inconvenience.
How YONO Lite and UPI Lite Help
YONO Lite App: A lightweight mobile banking option where customers can check balances, transfer funds, pay bills, and view mini statements.
It requires less data and works on almost all smartphones with net banking or mobile banking login credentials.
UPI Lite: Best for small payments up to ₹200. It uses a pre-loaded wallet instead of directly debiting from the bank account. Transactions are completed instantly, even if the internet is slow.
