The Ayushman Bharat scheme provides eligible families with health coverage of up to ₹5 lakh for hospital treatment.

But having an Ayushman card alone may not always be enough.

If details on your Aadhaar card and Ayushman card do not match, you could face problems while trying to use the scheme.

For example, if you have recently changed your name, date of birth or gender on Aadhaar, the same information should also be updated in your Ayushman records.

The good news is that you can complete the required e-KYC process through the Ayushman app using your phone.

Why Is Ayushman Card e-KYC Important?

e-KYC helps keep your Ayushman card information updated and matched with your Aadhaar details.

You may need to complete e-KYC if:

You have changed your name, date of birth, gender or other details on Aadhaar.

The photo on your Ayushman card is unclear and needs to be updated.

Your card was created a long time ago but e-KYC was never completed.

Your e-KYC status is not updated in the system.

You need to make changes to information on your Ayushman card.

Keeping these details updated can help avoid unnecessary problems when you need to use your health coverage.

How to Complete Ayushman Card e-KYC on Your Phone?

The process can be completed through the Ayushman app.

You will also need the Aadhaar FaceRD app if you choose face authentication.

Follow these steps:

Install and open the Ayushman app on your smartphone.

Tap Login and select the Beneficiary option.

Enter your mobile number and log in using the OTP.

Select your state, scheme and district.

Search for the beneficiary using an Aadhaar number or ration card number.

Your family members’ details will appear on the screen.

Find the family member whose details need to be updated.

Tap e-KYC or Redo e-KYC next to the person’s name.

Select an authentication method such as Aadhaar OTP, face authentication or fingerprint.

If you select Aadhaar OTP, enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number.

After authentication, update the required information. Make sure the details match your Aadhaar.

Take and upload the required live photo.

Check details such as your mobile number, relationship and PIN code.

Tap Submit to complete the process.

The updated information may be approved immediately or within a few hours, depending on the verification process.

Once the update is approved, you can download the updated Ayushman card through the app.

What Happens If You Don’t Complete e-KYC?

Ignoring e-KYC can create problems when you need to use your Ayushman card.

If your Aadhaar and Ayushman card details do not match, you could face difficulties in accessing the scheme’s benefits, including cashless treatment at eligible hospitals.

This can become particularly stressful during a medical emergency when there is little time to correct documentation.

An outdated record could also create issues during the verification and claim process.

In addition, you may face problems accessing an updated digital Ayushman card or seeing changes to your family members’ details.

Keep Your Details Updated Before You Need the Card

If you have recently changed any important information on Aadhaar, it is better to check your Ayushman card details now rather than waiting until you need medical treatment.

Completing e-KYC and keeping your information accurate can help ensure that your health coverage is easier to access when required.
