The revised fee applies from April 1, 2026, for the financial year 2026-27, offering frequent highway travellers an alternative to paying individual toll charges on covered routes.

The facility, introduced by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in August 2025, is designed for eligible non-commercial cars, jeeps and vans with a valid FASTag.

The pass remains valid for one year or until 200 toll crossings are completed, whichever happens first.

For people who regularly travel between cities or use national highways for work, the pass may help reduce toll expenses.

However, the actual savings depend on the routes used, the toll charges normally paid and how frequently the vehicle crosses eligible toll plazas.

FASTag Annual Pass 2026: Price and Validity

The FASTag Annual Pass costs Rs 3,075 for the 2026-27 financial year, up from Rs 3,000 previously. The revised price was announced by NHAI in March 2026 and took effect on April 1.

The pass offers up to 200 eligible toll crossings during its validity period of 12 months.

Once the crossing limit is exhausted or the one-year period ends, the annual pass benefit expires, and the existing FASTag reverts to regular toll payment arrangements.

The facility covers approximately 1,150 fee plazas on National Highways and National Expressways. It does not automatically cover toll plazas on state highways, state expressways or roads managed by local authorities.

At those locations, the regular FASTag toll rules continue to apply.

Who Is Eligible for the FASTag Annual Pass?

The annual pass is available for eligible non-commercial cars, jeeps and vans. The vehicle must have a valid, functional FASTag linked to its registration number, and the tag must be affixed to the vehicle’s windscreen.

According to the official scheme conditions, blacklisted or hotlisted FASTags are not eligible. The pass is linked to the registered vehicle and cannot be transferred to another vehicle.

Users should check the latest eligibility conditions before making payment.

Commercial vehicles cannot use this facility. Owners of eligible private vehicles who do not purchase the annual pass can continue using the existing FASTag system and pay toll charges according to the applicable rates.

How to Apply for the FASTag Annual Pass Online

Vehicle owners can purchase the pass through the official Rajmargyatra app or the NHAI website. The process involves checking eligibility, confirming the vehicle details and completing the prescribed payment.

To apply through the Rajmargyatra app, follow these steps:

Open the Rajmargyatra app on your smartphone.

Log in and select the FASTag Annual Pass option.

Enter the vehicle registration number and complete the eligibility check.

Confirm that the vehicle has a valid FASTag linked to its registration.

Pay the applicable fee of Rs 3,075 through the available payment options.

Check the activation status before beginning your journey.

The pass is generally activated on the existing FASTag within about two hours after successful payment. Applicants should verify the confirmation in the app or on the official website before travelling.

How Much Can You Save With the Annual Pass?

The potential savings depend on how frequently a vehicle uses eligible toll plazas and the toll charges that would otherwise apply.

Frequent highway travellers may benefit more than people who use national highways only occasionally.

For example, a driver who would otherwise spend Rs 150 per eligible crossing would spend Rs 3,000 for 20 crossings. Compared with that amount, the Rs 3,075 annual pass would not provide a saving at that usage level.

By contrast, if the same driver would normally pay Rs 200 per crossing, 20 crossings would cost Rs 4,000 individually.

The annual pass could then save Rs 925, provided all those journeys qualify under the scheme.

These are illustrative calculations, not guaranteed savings. Actual benefits depend on the toll rates, eligible routes and number of crossings completed during the pass’s validity period.

Important Rules Before Buying the Pass

The FASTag Annual Pass does not make every toll road free.

It applies to eligible National Highway and National Expressway fee plazas, while state-managed toll roads and other excluded facilities may continue to charge the regular toll fee.

Each eligible crossing counts towards the 200-trip limit. A return journey through the same toll plaza generally counts as two crossings, while entry and exit within a closed toll collection system are treated as one crossing under the scheme rules.

The pass is also non-transferable and tied to the vehicle’s registration. Any unused crossings lapse when the validity period ends, and the pass does not provide a refund simply because the full quota has not been used.

Before purchasing, vehicle owners should compare the annual fee with their expected highway travel, check the list of eligible toll plazas and confirm that their FASTag meets the requirements.

For regular highway users, the scheme can offer convenience and potential savings, but its value depends on actual travel patterns.
