The warning comes as several parts of Karnataka prepare for another spell of rain.

Bengaluru residents may experience cloudy skies, intermittent showers and thunderstorms, while coastal Karnataka is also under a weather warning during the same period.

According to the latest IMD forecast issued on November 3, isolated places in South Interior Karnataka could receive heavy rainfall on November 4 and 5. The department has also warned of thunderstorms and lightning.

Bengaluru Weather Forecast for November 3 to 5

Bengaluru is likely to experience partly cloudy skies with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers. The IMD’s city forecast indicates that temperatures may remain around 20°C to 30°C during November 3 and 4.

For November 5, generally cloudy conditions with light rain are expected. Although the city may experience showers, the IMD’s city-level forecast does not indicate a separate warning for November 5.

The regional warning for South Interior Karnataka, however, remains in force through November 5.

distinction is important because the regional alert covers a wider geographical area and does not mean every part of Bengaluru will receive heavy rainfall.

IMD Yellow Alert Covers These Karnataka Regions

The weather department has issued warnings for different parts of Karnataka based on the expected rainfall and thunderstorm activity.

South Interior Karnataka: Heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning are forecast for November 4 and 5. The region also faces thunderstorm activity on November 3.

Coastal Karnataka: Thunderstorms, lightning and squalls are expected between November 3 and 5. The warning also includes the possibility of heavy rain during the period.

North Interior Karnataka: Thunderstorms and lightning are expected on November 3, while no further warning is indicated for November 4 and 5 in the latest regional bulletin.

The districts of Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, Tumakuru, Ramanagara, Kolar, Kodagu and Chikkamagaluru fall under South Interior Karnataka.

Coastal Karnataka includes Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada.

What Will the Weather Be Like After November 5?

The latest IMD sub-division-wise forecast indicates that the weather warnings are likely to ease after November 5.

No weather warning has been issued for South Interior Karnataka, Coastal Karnataka or North Interior Karnataka from November 6 to November 9 in the November 3 bulletin.

This suggests that the current spell of adverse weather conditions may gradually weaken after Thursday. However, local rainfall can still occur depending on changing weather conditions.

Residents should continue checking updated forecasts because weather warnings can change as the meteorological situation develops.

Traffic and Travel Advisory for Bengaluru Residents

Rain and thunderstorms can affect everyday travel, particularly during morning and evening commuting hours.

Waterlogging in low-lying areas, slower traffic movement and reduced visibility are possible during heavy showers.

Two-wheeler riders should be particularly careful on wet roads and avoid exposed locations during thunderstorms.

People travelling to airports, railway stations and bus terminals should allow additional time if rain affects road conditions.

Residents are also advised to avoid standing near trees, electric poles and open areas during lightning or strong winds.

Following local weather updates and safety instructions can help reduce travel-related difficulties.

For now, Bengaluru is expected to see intermittent rain and cloudy conditions, while the wider South Interior Karnataka region remains under the IMD warning until November 5.
