HDFC Bank has announced good news for its millions of customers. The bank has increased the interest rate on some Fixed Deposits (FDs), giving some relief to people who invest in them.
The interest rate has been increased by 10 basis points (0.10%) for a specific tenure of more than three years. The new FD interest rates came into effect on March 6, 2026. This change applies to FDs of less than ₹3 crore.

Interest Rate Increased for This FD Tenure
The bank has increased interest rates for FDs with a tenure of 3 years 1 day to less than 4 years 7 months.
Earlier, general customers received 6.40% interest, which has now been increased to 6.50%.
For senior citizens, the interest rate has increased from 6.90% to 7%.
It is worth noting that in December 2025, the bank had reduced interest rates on some FD tenures. Now, by raising the rate for this particular period, the bank has provided some relief to new investors.
Current FD Interest Rates
After the latest revision, HDFC Bank offers FD interest rates between 2.75% and 6.50% for general customers.
For senior citizens, the interest rates range from 3.25% to 7%. These rates apply to FDs with maturities ranging from 7 days to 10 years.
Interest Rates for Different FD Periods
Interest rates are generally lower for short-term FDs.
FDs of 7 to 14 days and 15 to 29 days offer 2.75% interest for general customers and 3.25% for senior citizens.
FDs with a tenure of 6 to 9 months offer 5.50% interest, while senior citizens receive 6%.
1-year FDs provide around 6.25% interest for general customers and 6.75% for senior citizens.
Interest Rates on Long-Term FDs
Long-term FDs usually offer slightly higher returns.
FDs with a tenure of 18 months to 2 years offer around 6.45% interest for general customers and 6.95% for senior citizens.
FDs with a tenure of 5 years to 10 years offer 6.15% interest for general customers and 6.65% for senior citizens.

Fixed Deposits are considered a safe investment option because they provide fixed returns and involve low risk.
However, before investing, it is important to compare interest rates offered by different banks. Investors should also choose an FD based on their financial goals, investment duration, and personal needs.
