Good news for millions of Rajasthan government employees, pensioners, and their families. From Monday, July 13, 2026, the Rajasthan Government has made the RGHS testing process much easier.
Patients will no longer have to wait for long hours to get approval for many OPD tests, helping them receive treatment faster.
OPD Tests Up to ₹2,000 Will Not Need Approval
Under the new rules, if the total cost of routine OPD tests prescribed by a doctor is up to ₹2,000, patients will not need any pre-approval.
Earlier, RGHS cardholders had to wait for authorization before getting tests done at empanelled private hospitals or diagnostic centres. Now, they can directly visit the centre and complete the tests without any delay.
Time Limit Set for Costly Tests
If the cost of prescribed tests is more than ₹2,000, the hospital must submit an online request through the RGHS portal.
To prevent unnecessary delays, the government has fixed a strict timeline for approvals by the Third Party Administrator (TPA):
Emergency or urgent cases: Approval must be given within 1 hour.
General OPD cases: Approval must be given within 3 hours.
No response within the deadline: The request will be automatically approved, and the hospital can immediately begin the tests.
Emergency Patients Will Get Immediate Treatment
The government has also clarified that emergency cases such as road accidents, heart attacks, or other life-threatening conditions will not require any pre-authorization.
Hospitals can start treatment and necessary investigations immediately. Required documents, including the doctor’s prescription, medical history, and test justification, can be uploaded to the RGHS portal later by the hospital.
These new guidelines aim to reduce delays, improve patient care, and make treatment easier for millions of RGHS beneficiaries across Rajasthan.
Private hospitals and diagnostic centres have been instructed to follow the new rules from July 13, 2026.
