Aadhaar Name Change Rule has changed, and users can no longer update their name online through the Aadhaar portal or app.

From minor corrections to a complete name change, the process now requires an offline visit to an Aadhaar centre.

However, several other Aadhaar-related services are still available online, allowing users to make changes or complete verification from home.

Aadhaar Name Change Rule: What Is Now Offline?

The name update facility has been moved offline.

This means Aadhaar holders need to visit an Aadhaar centre even if they want to make a small correction in their name.

Earlier, name changes could be requested through the online Aadhaar service.

The revised process means users must complete the required procedure at a centre.

Aadhaar Address and Mobile Number Update Online

Address updates can still be completed online through the Aadhaar app and myAadhaar portal.

Users can submit a valid address proof, such as an electricity bill, rent agreement or bank passbook.

The mobile number linked to Aadhaar can also be updated online through the app.

Users need to enter the new number, verify it through OTP and complete face authentication.

The applicable fee for these update services is Rs 75, and the updated mobile number is expected to be processed within the stated timeline.

 Other Aadhaar Services Available Online

People whose Aadhaar is 10 years old can submit identity and address documents online for document verification. This service is currently available free of charge.

Users can also add or update their email address through the Aadhaar app.

The email update facility is currently available without a fee for the specified period.

Another online facility allows Aadhaar holders to order a PVC Aadhaar card.

Users can request the card through the myAadhaar portal after completing the required verification and paying the applicable charge.

The Aadhaar Name Change Rule therefore does not mean that all Aadhaar services have moved offline.

Address, mobile number, email, document verification and PVC card services continue to offer online options.
