Shares of Axis Bank are likely to remain in focus on Monday, April 6.

The reason is the bank’s strong fourth-quarter business update, which shows steady growth across key areas.

Let’s understand what these numbers mean in simple terms.

Strong Growth in Loans and Deposits

Axis Bank has reported solid growth in its lending business.

The bank’s total loans (gross advances) increased by 18.4% compared to last year, reaching ₹12.44 lakh crore.

This is a big jump from ₹10.51 lakh crore in the same period last year.

At the same time, total deposits also grew by 13.9% year-on-year to ₹13.35 lakh crore. On a quarterly basis, deposits rose by 6%.

This shows that more people are trusting the bank with their money and the bank has enough funds to continue lending.

CASA and Term Deposit Growth

The bank’s CASA deposits (current and savings accounts) grew by 10.6% compared to last year, reaching ₹5.28 lakh crore.

However, term deposits grew even faster.

They increased by 16.1% year-on-year to ₹8.06 lakh crore.

This indicates that many investors are choosing safer fixed deposit options, which is a common trend during uncertain times.

Last Quarter Performance

In the October–December quarter, Axis Bank also showed good performance.

The bank’s net profit increased by 3% to ₹6,489 crore, compared to ₹6,304 crore last year.

Revenue also grew by 4.3% to ₹38,500 crore.

Net interest income, which is a key earnings indicator for banks, rose by 5% to ₹14,286 crore.

All these figures were better than market expectations.

Share Price Update

Axis Bank’s shares closed at ₹1,198.10 on April 2, showing a slight gain of nearly 0.5%.

The stock has risen by over 1% this week.

The bank’s total market value currently stands at around ₹3.72 lakh crore.
