Bank employees remain busy with closing the accounts for the entire financial year and completing other key accounting tasks.

According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the financial year ends on March 31 every year, and banks complete the final account closing on April 1.

Because of this, while some branches stay open, customers cannot visit them for normal banking work.

Banking services will also be affected on several other dates in April due to holidays and festivals.

Good Friday Holiday – April 3

Banks will remain closed in major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, and Bengaluru on April 3 because of Good Friday.

State-Wise Holidays – April 14 to 16

Banks will remain closed in different states between April 14 and April 16 due to festivals and important occasions like:

Bihu

Vishu

Baisakhi

Bengali New Year

Himachal Day

States likely to be affected include Assam, West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and some others.

More Holidays – April 20 and 21

Banking services will also be limited in some states on April 20 and 21.

April 20 – Basava Jayanti / Akshaya Tritiya

States such as Karnataka and Tripura may see reduced banking services on these dates.

Digital Banking Services Will Continue

Even when bank branches are closed, digital banking services will continue without interruption.

Customers can still:

send money through UPI

use mobile banking

access internet banking

However, some branch-based services will not be available, such as:

cheque clearing

other branch-related transactions

Because of this, it is better to complete important banking work before the holiday dates to avoid any inconvenience later.
