Every family in Punjab is set to receive a major New Year benefit from the state government.
Under the Chief Minister’s Health Scheme, residents will now get cashless medical treatment up to ₹10 lakh, doubling the earlier limit of ₹5 lakh.
The scheme will be officially launched on January 15 and is expected to benefit 65 lakh families, covering 100 percent of Punjab’s population.
According to Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, the scheme has no income limit and no exclusions, meaning both rich and poor families can take advantage of it.
What the Health Scheme Offers
Under this scheme, treatment will be available at:
212 government hospitals
8 central government hospitals
Over 600 private hospitals
The Punjab government has signed an agreement with United India Insurance, which will provide insurance coverage for all eligible families.
The scheme will be launched by Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal on January 15.
The health card will cover treatment for around 2,200 diseases, ensuring wide medical support for residents across the state.
How to Get the Chief Minister’s Health Card
To make the process simple, the government will set up more than 9,000 camps across Punjab to issue health cards.
Beneficiaries can visit these camps and get their cards made.
Registration will also be available through Public Service Centers (CSCs).
After successful enrollment, beneficiaries will receive the MMSY health card.
A helpline number will also be launched soon to assist people and resolve any issues.
Documents Required for the Health Card
To apply for the health card, the applicant must be a permanent resident of Punjab.
Only two documents are required:
Aadhaar card
Voter ID card with a Punjab address
Earlier, Punjab had a health insurance scheme linked to Ayushman Bharat, which offered coverage of up to ₹5 lakh and had eligibility limits.
The new Chief Minister’s Health Scheme removes these restrictions and offers higher coverage for everyone.
This initiative is expected to significantly reduce healthcare expenses for families and improve access to quality treatment across Punjab.
