Commercial LPG Price Hike has made 19-kg cylinders costlier from October 1, while aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices have also increased.

State-owned oil marketing companies raised commercial LPG prices by ₹62.50 per cylinder and ATF rates by ₹16 per litre.

The latest revisions are linked to movements in international benchmark prices and the rupee-dollar exchange rate.

LPG and ATF prices are reviewed on the first day of every month, while actual rates can vary between states because of local taxes.

Commercial LPG Price Hike Raises 19-Kg Cylinder Rate

In Delhi, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has increased by ₹62.50 to ₹2,810 from October 1.

The previous rate was ₹2,747.50. Commercial LPG is commonly used by hotels, restaurants and other businesses.

The latest increase follows a ₹9.50 per-cylinder hike in September.

Before that, commercial LPG prices had been reduced by ₹183.50 in July and ₹192 in August.

Commercial LPG prices had also climbed sharply between February and June, when the 19-kg cylinder increased from ₹1,740.50 to ₹3,113.50.

Prices subsequently declined in July and August before rising again in September and October.

ATF Price Rises by ₹16 Per Litre

Aviation turbine fuel has also become more expensive from October 1. ATF for domestic airlines has increased from ₹121 to ₹137 per litre, marking a ₹16 per-litre rise.

The October increase follows a ₹6.28 per-litre rise in September and a ₹5 per-litre increase in August.

ATF is a significant operating expense for airlines and can account for up to 40% of their operating costs.

The higher jet-fuel cost comes as airlines enter the festive travel period.

However, the latest ATF revision does not by itself establish whether or when individual airlines will change passenger fares.

 Domestic LPG Price Remains Unchanged

The latest commercial LPG revision does not affect the price of household cooking gas.

The domestic 14.2-kg LPG cylinder remains priced at ₹942 in Delhi.

Petrol and diesel prices have also remained unchanged in the latest revision.

The October changes therefore primarily affect commercial LPG users and the aviation sector rather than households using domestic LPG cylinders.

Why LPG and ATF Prices Changed

Oil marketing companies revise LPG and ATF prices each month based on international benchmark movements and currency exchange rates.

Local taxes, including VAT, can also cause differences in the final price across states.

The October 1 revision means businesses using commercial cylinders will face a higher fuel cost, while airlines are paying more for jet fuel.

The domestic LPG price, however, remains unchanged under the latest monthly revision.
