It is used for everything from booking train tickets and getting a SIM card to accessing government and private services.

But there is one thing many people are unhappy with: their Aadhaar photograph.

Sometimes, the photo taken at the Aadhaar centre does not turn out the way you expected.

If you have been wondering whether you can change it — or even change it again after updating it once — there is good news.

There Is No Fixed Limit on Changing Your Aadhaar Photo

According to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), there is no fixed limit on how many times you can update your Aadhaar photograph.

So, if you are not satisfied with your current photo, you can request another update.

However, there is an important condition. You cannot change your Aadhaar photo online from home.

You have to visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra or Aadhaar enrolment/update centre because the process requires a fresh photograph and biometric verification.

How to Change Your Aadhaar Photograph

The process is fairly simple.

First, visit a nearby Aadhaar centre and fill out the Aadhaar update form.

Your biometrics will then be verified, and the centre staff will take a new photograph using the camera available there.

Once the request is processed, your new photograph will be updated in your Aadhaar records.

The update may take a few days. After it is completed, you can download your updated Aadhaar card.

How Much Does the Photo Update Cost?

You may have to pay a ₹125 fee for the Aadhaar update.

The exact applicable charge can depend on the type of update/service being requested, so it is advisable to check the current fee with UIDAI or the Aadhaar centre before submitting the request.

What If Your Aadhaar Update Request Is Rejected?

If your request is rejected or you face a problem during the update process, you can raise a complaint with UIDAI.

You can submit a complaint through the UIDAI grievance redressal system, contact UIDAI through its helpline at 1947, or approach a UIDAI regional office.

You can also contact UIDAI through its official support email.

The key takeaway is simple: there is no fixed limit on Aadhaar photograph updates. If you are unhappy with your photo, you can request a new one by visiting an Aadhaar centre and completing the required biometric verification.
