From October 1, biometric Aadhaar authentication will be mandatory for domestic LPG consumers seeking refills at the regulated retail selling price with applicable subsidy.

The requirement covers customers using Indane Gas, Bharatgas and HP Gas.

Consumers who have already completed the biometric authentication do not need to repeat the process.

LPG Gas e-KYC Deadline Ends Today

The September 30 deadline follows several earlier extensions.

LPG consumers were initially asked to complete the process by June 30, with the deadline subsequently extended multiple times to give customers more time to complete Aadhaar authentication.

The government has said the biometric authentication is intended to ensure that genuine and eligible consumers receive domestic LPG benefits and to help prevent diversion of household cylinders for commercial and industrial use.

As of September 19, around 27.43 crore active domestic LPG consumers, or 89.9% of the total, had already completed Biometric Aadhaar Authentication, according to government information reported by The New Indian Express.

What Happens If LPG e-KYC Is Not Completed

Consumers who do not complete the required authentication will not necessarily have their LPG connection permanently cancelled.

However, from October 1, those who have not completed the process may receive domestic LPG at the applicable market price without the subsidy, subject to the relevant conditions.

This distinction is important because messages circulating online have claimed that LPG connections would be permanently stopped from October 1 if e-KYC was not completed by September 30.

A recent fact-check report clarified that the requirement primarily affects access to subsidised or regulated-price refills rather than automatically cancelling the LPG connection.

How to Complete LPG Aadhaar Biometric e-KYC

Consumers who have not completed authentication can do so through multiple channels.

The process can be completed during LPG refill delivery, at the distributor’s showroom or through the mobile application of the relevant oil marketing company.

Indane customers can use the IndianOil ONE app, Bharatgas customers can use HelloBPCL, while HP Gas customers can use the HP PAY app.

The authentication can also be completed with the delivery personnel when the refill is delivered.

For consumers who still need to complete the process, the LPG Gas e-KYC Deadline is therefore an important date.

Completing the Aadhaar biometric authentication can help ensure continued access to domestic LPG at the applicable regulated price and subsidy after October 1.
