Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC (ABSL AMC) has launched its first Apex Hybrid Long-Short Fund, introducing a new option in the investment market.
This fund has been launched under the recently introduced Specialized Investment Funds (SIF) framework.
Investors can subscribe to the New Fund Offer (NFO) from March 6 to March 18, 2026.
The fund is designed for investors who want higher returns than traditional mutual funds, but do not want to commit to expensive investment options such as portfolio management services (PMS) that usually require a longer investment horizon.
Protection From Market Fluctuations
The main strength of the Apex Hybrid Long-Short Fund lies in its long-short strategy. Traditional mutual funds usually focus only on buying stocks, but this fund has the flexibility to both buy
and sell stocks to benefit from market movements.
Because of this strategy, the fund creates a mix of equity, debt, and derivatives. This combination helps reduce risk during market volatility and aims to generate better returns across different market conditions.
Opportunities for High-Value Investors
This fund mainly targets investors who can invest at least ₹10 lakh. It is designed to bridge the gap between regular mutual funds
and high-value investment products such as Portfolio Management Services (PMS) or Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs).
According to the asset manager, the fund will not depend only on normal market trading. It will also try to generate extra returns by taking advantage of corporate actions and special market opportunities.
Taxation and Strong Promoter Support
In terms of taxation, long-term capital gains (LTCG) on investments held for more than 12 months will be taxed at 12.5%.
The fund is supported by strong promoters including Aditya Birla Capital Limited and Sun Life (India) AMC Investments Inc., which are key shareholders in the company.
