Canara Bank customers who frequently use ATMs need to take note of a new change.
The bank has revised certain ATM transaction charges from September 1, 2026.
The biggest change is for regular savings account holders, who will now get one fewer free ATM transaction every month.
Some ATM transaction charges have also gone up. However, senior citizens have a reason to be relieved as their free transaction limit remains unchanged.
Free ATM Transactions Reduced for Regular Customers
Earlier, general savings account holders could make 6 free ATM transactions in a calendar month.
This limit has now been reduced to 5 transactions per month.
The limit includes both financial and non-financial transactions.
So, cash withdrawals are not the only transactions that count.
Services such as checking your balance or getting a mini statement may also be included.
For senior citizens, the free limit remains at 8 transactions per month.
This means customers who frequently use ATMs should keep track of their monthly transactions to avoid extra charges.
Cash Withdrawal After Free Limit Will Cost More
Once the free transaction limit is crossed, customers will have to pay higher charges for certain transactions.
For financial transactions such as cash withdrawals at Canara Bank ATMs, the charge has increased from ₹20 + GST to ₹23 + GST.
The revised charge also applies to ICCW transactions, which include cash withdrawals through UPI.
However, the charge for non-financial transactions has not changed.
Customers making non-financial transactions after exceeding the free limit will continue to pay ₹5 + GST.
Failed ATM Transactions Will Also Cost More
Another important change concerns failed transactions caused by insufficient funds.
If there is not enough money in your account and an ATM transaction fails after the applicable free limit has been crossed, the charge has increased.
Earlier, the fee was ₹17 + GST.
It has now been increased to ₹23 + GST at Canara Bank and other bank ATMs.
So, customers should check their account balance before making ATM transactions to avoid unnecessary charges.
Green PIN Regeneration Gets Cheaper
There is also some good news for Canara Bank customers.
The bank has reduced the charge for Green PIN regeneration after the free limit is exhausted for certain card variants.
The fee, which was earlier ₹23, has now been reduced to just ₹5 for cards including Classic, Standard, Platinum, Business, Select and World variants.
What Canara Bank Customers Should Remember
From September 1, 2026, regular savings account holders need to remember these key changes:
Free ATM transactions reduced from 6 to 5 per month
Senior citizens continue to get 8 free transactions
Financial transactions beyond the free limit now cost ₹23 + GST
Non-financial transactions remain at ₹5 + GST
Failed transactions due to insufficient funds now cost ₹23 + GST
Green PIN regeneration charges for eligible cards reduced from ₹23 to ₹5
If you regularly use ATMs, keeping track of your free transaction limit can help you avoid unexpected charges.
