SBI Mutual Fund launches New Midcap Momentum FoF

SBI Mutual Fund, India’s largest fund house, has launched a new Fund of Funds (FoF) called the SBI Nifty Midcap 150 Momentum 50 ETF Fund of Funds. The New Fund Offer (NFO) opened on July 27, 2026.

This open-ended scheme mainly invests in the SBI Nifty Midcap 150 Momentum 50 ETF. It is designed for investors who want exposure to midcap companies that have shown strong recent market performance.

NFO Dates and Investment Details

The NFO is open from July 27, 2026, to August 5, 2026.

The minimum one-time investment is ₹5,000. After that, investors can add any amount in multiples of ₹1.

The scheme also offers SIP (Systematic Investment Plan) options. Investors can choose from daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, or yearly SIPs.

Where Will the Fund Invest?

Instead of buying shares directly, this Fund of Funds will invest in the underlying ETF.

The investment allocation is:

95% to 100% in units of the SBI Nifty Midcap 150 Momentum 50 ETF.

0% to 5% in low-risk assets such as government securities (G-Secs), state development loans, treasury bills, tri-party repo, and liquid mutual funds.

The ETF tracks an index made up of 50 momentum-based companies selected from the Nifty Midcap 150 Index.

What Is Momentum Investing?

Momentum investing focuses on stocks that have performed better than others in recent months. The idea is that stocks with strong price trends may continue to perform well for some time.

This strategy aims to benefit from companies that are already showing positive market momentum.

Fund Manager

The new scheme will be managed by Viral Chhadva, who has been with SBI Mutual Fund since December 2020.

He has experience managing several passive funds and ETFs offered by the fund house.

No Demat Account Required

Normally, investors need a demat account and a trading account to invest in ETFs.

However, since this is a Fund of Funds, you can invest in it just like a regular mutual fund. This means even investors without a demat account can get exposure to the SBI Nifty Midcap 150 Momentum 50 ETF.
