UIDAI, the authority behind Aadhaar, has introduced a new digital mascot called Udai to make Aadhaar-related services simpler and more accessible for everyone.
Designed as a chatbot-style character, Udai helps users quickly understand Aadhaar services and find solutions to common problems without confusion.
The idea behind Udai is to reduce dependency on physical offices and complex websites.
With this digital helper, users can get clear answers and guidance anytime they need.

What is Udai and How Does It Help?
Udai is a virtual assistant created specially for the general public.
It helps people easily access information related to Aadhaar updates, downloads, corrections, and other important services.
Instead of visiting Aadhaar centres or searching multiple web pages for small queries, users can rely on Udai for quick and easy explanations.
This saves time and makes Aadhaar services more user-friendly, especially for first-time or non-tech-savvy users.
How UIDAI Selected the Udai Mascot
UIDAI chose Udai through a nationwide design and naming competition.
According to UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar, around 875 participants took part in the contest, including students, professional designers, and creative individuals from different backgrounds.
The final mascot design was created by Arun Gokul from Thrissur, Kerala, who won first place.
Idris Dawawala from Pune, Maharashtra, and Krishna Sharma from Uttar Pradesh secured the second and third positions respectively.
The mascot’s name, “Udai,” was selected based on public opinion, with Riya Jain from Bhopal winning the naming contest.
Aadhaar App Brings Services to Mobile Phones
Before launching Udai, UIDAI had already taken a major digital step by introducing the Aadhaar app in November 2025.
The app is available on both Android and iPhone devices and works alongside the existing mAadhaar platform.
Through this app, users can digitally store their Aadhaar card and share it securely whenever required.
It also allows users to add Aadhaar details of family members, provided their mobile numbers are linked with Aadhaar.
Key Features of the Aadhaar App
The Aadhaar app includes strong security features such as fingerprint and face lock to protect user data.
It also enables users to share Aadhaar details through a QR code, making the process quick and safe.
With the combination of the Aadhaar app and the new Udai mascot, UIDAI aims to make Aadhaar services more convenient, secure, and easy to understand for millions of users across the country.
