Compensation for families of people who die in natural disasters has been doubled from ₹4 lakh to ₹8 lakh, while crop-loss assistance has increased by 25% to 30%.

The revised rates are expected to benefit more than 10 lakh farmers across Uttar Pradesh.

The enhanced assistance will also cover eligible losses reported between April 1 and November 4, 2026, under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF).

UP Disaster Compensation 2026: New Crop Loss Rates

Farmers whose crops are damaged by natural disasters will receive higher assistance under the revised guidelines. For losses in irrigated areas, compensation has increased from ₹17,000 to ₹22,000 per hectare.

In rain-fed areas, the assistance has been raised from ₹8,500 to ₹11,000 per hectare. This means farmers in irrigated areas will receive ₹5,000 more per hectare, while those in rain-fed areas will get an additional ₹2,500.

The government has also increased assistance for perennial crops and agroforestry from ₹22,500 to ₹30,000 per hectare.

Farmers dealing with silt deposits on agricultural land will now receive ₹23,000 per hectare instead of ₹18,000.

For agricultural land damaged by landslides or avalanches, the compensation has increased from ₹47,000 to ₹60,000 per hectare.

The scale of crop damage has been significant. Between April 1 and November 4, 2026, crops across approximately 52.14 lakh hectares belonging to 10,02,684 farmers were reported damaged in the state.

Compensation for Livestock Losses Also Increased

The revised disaster relief rates also provide higher assistance to livestock owners and poultry farmers.

Compensation for the death of large animals, including cows, buffaloes, horses and camels, has increased from ₹40,000 to ₹50,000.

For small animals such as goats, sheep and pigs, the assistance has been raised from ₹4,000 to ₹5,500. Owners of pack animals such as horses and mules will now receive ₹25,400 instead of ₹20,000.

Poultry farmers will receive ₹130 per bird in eligible cases, compared with the earlier assistance of ₹100.

These changes are intended to provide additional support to families whose livelihoods are affected by disaster-related livestock losses.

Higher Assistance for Damaged Houses and Schools

The government has also revised financial assistance for houses damaged during natural disasters. Families whose houses are completely damaged will receive ₹1.85 lakh in plain areas and ₹2.06 lakh in hilly areas.

For partially damaged houses in the plains, the assistance has been fixed at ₹93,000. The revised norms also provide support for repairing public infrastructure, including schools and other essential facilities.

Financial assistance of up to ₹15.50 lakh will be available for repairing primary schools. Secondary schools, intermediate colleges and polytechnics will be eligible for assistance of up to ₹26 lakh.

Relief Camps and Drinking Water Support

The revised provisions include assistance for disaster-affected families staying in relief camps for up to 30 days. In drought-like conditions, drinking-water support can be provided for up to 90 days.

The government has also revised assistance standards for repairing roads, hospitals and other public infrastructure.

These measures extend the relief framework beyond crop damage and cover several kinds of losses caused by natural calamities.

Individual financial assistance is to be transferred directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

The government has also indicated that beneficiary lists and eligibility criteria will be made public to support transparency in the distribution process.

The revised rates are part of the updated SDRF and NDRF assistance framework for the 2026-27 to 2030-31 financial years.

Eligible farmers and affected families will receive assistance according to the applicable damage assessment and government conditions.
