UP Old Age Pension New Rule: The Uttar Pradesh government has introduced a revised payment system for senior citizens receiving old-age pension.
Instead of receiving ₹3,000 together for three months, eligible beneficiaries will now receive the amount in two instalments of ₹1,500 each, with a gap of around 45 days between payments.
The new system is designed to distribute pension money more frequently and transfer it directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
The revised payment arrangement is being implemented across districts, with local authorities informing pensioners about the changes.
UP Old Age Pension New Rule: How Payments Will Work
Under the revised system, the total pension amount for a three-month period will be divided into two payments. Beneficiaries will receive ₹1,500 in the first instalment and another ₹1,500 after approximately 45 days.
This means pensioners will no longer have to wait for the entire three-month amount to arrive in one transaction.
However, the new arrangement changes the timing of payments rather than automatically increasing the total amount payable for the three-month period.
In Mathura, more than 68,000 senior citizens are reported to benefit from the pension scheme.
The district administration has said that payments will be sent directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts to make receiving the money easier.
Who Is Eligible for the Old-Age Pension?
The Uttar Pradesh old-age pension scheme is intended for eligible senior citizens aged 60 years and above. Eligibility also depends on the applicant’s family income and other scheme conditions.
According to the reported eligibility criteria, annual family income should not exceed ₹46,080 in rural areas or ₹56,460 in urban areas.
Applicants should verify the latest requirements with the state’s Social Welfare Department before submitting an application, as scheme conditions may be updated.
The pension amount reported under the revised arrangement is ₹1,000 per month, equivalent to ₹3,000 for three months.
The two-instalment system divides this quarterly amount into payments of ₹1,500 each.
Why Linking Aadhaar to Your Bank Account Matters
Pension payments are transferred through DBT, so beneficiaries should ensure that their bank details are correct and their accounts meet the required Aadhaar-linking and payment-mapping conditions.
If a pension does not arrive, an incomplete bank-linking process or incorrect account details could be among the issues to check.
Beneficiaries should contact their bank or the relevant Social Welfare Department office to confirm whether their account is ready to receive government payments.
Senior citizens should also keep their bank passbook or account statement updated so they can check whether each instalment has been credited.
They should avoid sharing bank PINs, OTPs or other confidential banking details with anyone claiming to help release their pension.
How to Apply for UP Old-Age Pension
Eligible senior citizens who are not already receiving the pension can apply through the Uttar Pradesh Social Welfare Department’s official online application system, subject to the scheme’s current rules.
Applicants should keep their age proof, income-related documents, Aadhaar details and bank account information ready.
The department may require additional documents or verification depending on the applicant’s circumstances.
Existing beneficiaries should check their pension status through the official portal or contact their district Social Welfare Department office if payments are delayed.
They should rely on official government channels for confirmation of payment dates and eligibility rather than unverified messages circulating online.
The revised payment schedule is intended to make pension disbursement more manageable for senior citizens.
Beneficiaries should ensure their bank details are accurate and check their accounts regularly for both instalments.
