UP Women Entrepreneur Credit Scheme is being prepared by the Uttar Pradesh government to provide interest-free loans of up to ₹1 lakh to women associated with self-help groups (SHGs).

The scheme aims to help women start small businesses or expand their existing work.

According to a report in Dainik Jagran, the government is preparing to provide these loans in different phases. The scheme is also being prepared for implementation ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

UP Women Entrepreneur Credit Scheme Loan Details

Under the proposed scheme, women will initially receive a loan of up to ₹20,000. If the first installment is repaid on time, the beneficiary can receive ₹30,000 in the second phase.

After timely repayment of the second installment, a credit benefit of ₹50,000 will be available in the third phase. In this way, women who successfully repay the loans in different stages can receive interest-free credit of up to ₹1 lakh.

The main objective is to use the loan amount to connect women with self-employment and small businesses. The phased loan system is also intended to encourage timely repayment.

Scheme Preparations Ahead of Elections

Reports indicate that the Uttar Pradesh government is speeding up preparations to extend the scheme’s benefits to women before the Assembly elections.

However, all details regarding the implementation of the scheme have not yet been officially released. The reported plans are therefore subject to further government announcements.

The UP Women Entrepreneur Credit Scheme is expected to focus on women members of self-help groups and provide them with financial support for income-generating activities.

Women to Get Special Credit Cards

Under the proposed scheme, special credit cards will also be issued to beneficiary women. These cards are expected to include digital features for business-related requirements.

The government plans to connect women entrepreneurs with digital payments, digital marketing, online sales, financial services and modern business management tools.

The aim is to help women move beyond traditional small businesses and use digital platforms to reach more customers and expand their products and services.

E-Rickshaw and Mahila Shakti Centre Plans

According to reports, other measures to increase women’s participation in economic activities were also discussed. One proposal involves considering vehicles worth up to ₹2 lakh under an e-rickshaw scheme.

A plan to establish 100 Mahila Shakti Kendras was also discussed. These centres are expected to assist women with government schemes, financial services and entrepreneurship-related support.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has directed officials to identify women associated with self-help groups and connect them with government services and schemes.

He also emphasized providing identification markers to group women so they can be connected with relevant services. Officials were also asked to focus on digital services and the modernization of women’s businesses.

The UP Women Entrepreneur Credit Scheme is part of the reported preparations to provide women associated with self-help groups with easier access to credit and opportunities for self-employment.
