Several important rules have changed from August 1, 2026, and they could affect your daily expenses and finances.
These include changes to LPG cylinder prices, Tatkal ticket booking, KYC, credit card rules, and the Ujjwala scheme.
Here’s everything you need to know.
LPG Cylinder Prices Reduced
Oil marketing companies have reduced the prices of commercial LPG cylinders from August 1.
Delhi: Price reduced by ₹192
Kolkata: Price reduced by ₹209
Mumbai: Price reduced by ₹194
Chennai: Price reduced by ₹200
However, domestic LPG cylinder prices remain unchanged.
New Tatkal Ticket Token System Starts
Indian Railways has introduced a new token system for Tatkal ticket booking at reservation counters.
Instead of standing in long queues, passengers can now take a token and wait for their turn. The new system is expected to reduce crowding and save time.
Ujjwala Beneficiaries Must Complete e-KYC
If you receive an LPG subsidy under the Ujjwala Yojana, completing e-KYC is now mandatory.
Without e-KYC, beneficiaries may not receive their LPG subsidy.
KYC 2.0 Rolled Out
The KYC 2.0 system has officially started in the banking, insurance, and mutual fund sectors.
Under the new process, financial institutions will access customer details from a central verified database, reducing the need to complete KYC repeatedly with different companies.
Credit Card Rules Updated
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has introduced new credit card billing rules.
The changes aim to provide relief to customers by reducing certain extra charges and making the billing process more customer-friendly when payments are delayed.
RBI Meeting on August 5
The RBI’s Monetary Policy Committee will meet on August 5 to decide interest rates.
If the RBI raises the repo rate, fixed deposit (FD) interest rates could also increase in the coming months.
