The revised charges will take effect on December 1, 2026, and customers who frequently deposit or withdraw cash may pay more under the new structure.

The bank is keeping the existing number of free cash transactions and the monthly complimentary cash value limits unchanged.

However, the fee for cash transactions exceeding the applicable value limit will increase, while charges for the second and third ECS debit returns for financial reasons will also rise.

ICICI Bank Cash Transaction Charges From December 1

Eligible savings account holders will continue to receive three free cash deposit transactions and three free cash withdrawals each month.

The monthly complimentary value limit will remain ₹1 lakh for cash deposits and ₹1 lakh for cash withdrawals.

After customers exceed the free transaction count, a charge of ₹150 per transaction will apply under the revised schedule.

The changes also affect cash deposits and withdrawals that exceed the monthly value-based limits.

For transactions exceeding the ₹1 lakh monthly value limit, the charge will rise from ₹3.50 to ₹4 per ₹1,000, or ₹150, whichever is higher.

The applicable fee will depend on the transaction amount and whether the customer has exceeded the number-based limit as well.

If both the transaction-count and value-based limits are breached, the higher applicable charge will be levied.

Customers should review their monthly cash activity to understand whether the revised rates will affect them.

How Much More Will Customers Pay?

The higher value-based fee could increase costs for customers who regularly carry out large cash deposits or withdrawals beyond their complimentary limits.

For example, if the amount exceeding the monthly value limit is ₹1 lakh, the value-based charge would increase from ₹350 to ₹400, before considering the minimum charge and applicable GST.

The actual amount payable will depend on the applicable limits and fee calculation.

Customers who remain within the free transaction count and value limits should not be affected by this particular increase in cash transaction charges.

Those who frequently use branches or cash recycler machines for high-value transactions should check their account’s applicable schedule.

ECS Debit Return Charges Will Also Change

ICICI Bank is also revising charges for electronic clearing service (ECS) debit returns caused by financial reasons, such as insufficient funds in an account.

From December 1, 2026, the first ECS debit return will continue to attract a charge of ₹500.

The charge for the second and third returns will increase to ₹550 each, compared with the existing ₹500 per instance.

The bank will continue to recover charges for a maximum of three return instances per month for the same mandate.

Customers with recurring payments linked to ECS should ensure that sufficient funds are available on scheduled debit dates to avoid unnecessary fees.

Do the New Charges Apply to Every Savings Account?

The revised charges do not necessarily apply uniformly to every ICICI Bank customer.

The bank maintains separate schedules for different savings account categories, including accounts for senior citizens and pensioners, students, and customers using Basic Savings Bank Deposit Accounts.

The applicable charges and exemptions can vary according to the account type. Customers should therefore check the schedule relevant to their account rather than assume that all revised fees apply to them.

The changes are scheduled to take effect on December 1, 2026. Reviewing account-specific terms and planning cash transactions carefully can help customers understand potential costs before the new rates begin.
