People whose money is stuck in old PF accounts may soon get major relief.
The government is preparing to launch a new portal called E-PRAAPTI to help EPFO members trace and recover money lying in inactive or inoperative PF accounts.
This new system is expected to benefit crores of employees, especially those who changed jobs years ago and lost access to their old PF accounts.
Many people, particularly those with accounts created before 2014, still struggle because they do not have a UAN number or old company records.
The new portal aims to solve this problem.

What Is the E-PRAAPTI Portal?
E-PRAAPTI stands for:
Employee Provident Fund Aadhaar-Based Access Portal for Tracking Inoperative Accounts.
The portal was recently announced by Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
The main purpose of this portal is to help people find and track their old inactive PF accounts using Aadhaar-based authentication.
This means employees may be able to access details of old PF accounts without depending heavily on employers or old paperwork.
Biggest Relief for People Without UAN
One of the biggest advantages of the E-PRAAPTI portal is that it is expected to help people who do not have a Universal Account Number (UAN).
Initially, the portal may work using old Member IDs.
Later, the system is expected to support even those users who do not remember their old account details.
This can become a huge relief for people whose PF money has remained stuck for years due to missing records or company closures.
EPFO Processed Record Claims in FY 2025-26
According to reports, EPFO processed a record 8.31 crore claims in FY 2025-26, compared to 6.01 crore claims in the previous year.
Out of these:
Around 5.51 crore claims were related to advance or partial withdrawals
More than 71% of advance claims were settled within just 3 days through automatic processing
The increasing use of technology has helped reduce delays and paperwork for EPFO members.
Technology Is Making PF Services Easier
EPFO has been continuously improving its digital services in recent years.
Now, many tasks like:
Updating bank account details
Uploading cheque images
Correcting profile information
can be done online without visiting offices.
Reports also show that around 29.34 lakh members updated their profiles online without needing help from employers.
How Will E-PRAAPTI Help Employees?
The E-PRAAPTI portal is expected to reduce people’s dependence on companies and middlemen for old PF withdrawals.
With Aadhaar-based tracking and online access, users may be able to:
Find old PF accounts
Track inactive balances
Start claim processes more easily
Recover long-forgotten savings without visiting multiple offices
For lakhs of employees whose hard-earned PF money has remained stuck for years, this portal could become a major relief.
