The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has launched its upgraded Unified Member Portal, called EPFO 2.01.

The new platform is designed to make PF services faster, simpler, and more user-friendly.

According to the Government of India, the upgraded system will automate many PF-related processes, making it easier for more than 34 crore EPFO members to manage their accounts online.

Although the portal has gone live, all features are not available yet.

The remaining services will be rolled out gradually over the coming days and weeks.

One National System for All PF Records

One of the biggest changes in EPFO 2.01 is the creation of a single nationwide database.

Earlier, different EPFO regional offices maintained separate records.

Now, all member data has been merged into one centralized system.

This means PF-related work can be completed from any EPFO office in India, regardless of where your account was originally created.

For example, if you worked in Chennai and later moved to West Bengal, you can now visit your nearest EPFO office in West Bengal instead of returning to Chennai for PF-related services.

Easier PF Management and Automatic Transfers

The new portal brings all important PF information together in one place.

Members can now access their:

PF balance

Claim status

Member profile

Pension details

Benefit records

People who frequently change jobs will benefit the most.

If your PF account is linked to your Aadhaar, your PF balance will now be automatically transferred to your new employer’s account after changing jobs.

There is no need to fill out separate transfer forms or obtain approvals from your previous or current employer.

Faster Claims and Easy UAN Recovery

EPFO 2.01 also introduces automated claim verification.

Before a claim reaches EPFO officials, the system will automatically check it for missing details or errors.

If any issue is found, you will receive an SMS or portal notification so you can correct it quickly.

The portal will also inform members about how much PF money they are eligible to withdraw for different purposes.

Another useful feature is the ability to recover your Universal Account Number (UAN) in just a few simple steps if you have forgotten it.

Important Services Shifted to the UMANG App

Some services are no longer available on the EPFO Member Portal.

Users can no longer activate their UAN through the website.

UAN activation must now be done through the UMANG app using Aadhaar-based face authentication.

Similarly, generating a new UAN is also available only through the UMANG app.

If you already have a PF account but do not have a UAN, you can generate and link it using the UMANG app.

Portal Still Being Updated

While EPFO 2.01 introduces several useful features, the portal is still under development.

The government has confirmed that additional services and improvements will be added gradually over the next few days and weeks.

Users may experience temporary limitations until the complete rollout is finished.

Once fully operational, EPFO 2.01 is expected to make managing PF accounts, withdrawals, transfers, and pension services much faster and more convenient for millions of members across India.
