The public sector bank has also introduced a special 500-day deposit scheme called Star Akshay, offering interest of up to 6.85% annually to regular customers.

Senior citizens and super senior citizens can earn higher interest under the new scheme.

The revised rates apply to selected deposits of less than Rs 3 crore and deposits ranging from Rs 3 crore to less than Rs 10 crore.

For deposits below Rs 3 crore, Bank of India has increased the interest rate on one-year fixed deposits to 6.60% per annum.

Deposits with a tenure of more than one year and less than three years will now earn 6.70%.

For deposits between Rs 3 crore and less than Rs 10 crore, the revised rate is 6.55% for a one-year tenure and 6.65% for deposits with a maturity of more than one year but less than three years.

The revised rates are effective from November 2, 2026. The changes apply to selected maturity periods rather than every FD tenure offered by the bank.

Star Akshay 500-Day FD Scheme: Interest for Seniors

The newly launched Star Akshay Fixed Deposit offers the following annual interest rates for a 500-day tenure:

Depositor CategoryInterest Rate
General customers6.85%
Senior citizens7.35%
Super senior citizens7.50%

This special scheme offers a higher rate to older depositors. The maximum rate of 7.50% is available to super senior citizens, while regular customers can earn 6.85% per annum.

Extra Interest Benefits for Senior Citizens

Bank of India provides additional interest benefits to senior and super senior citizens on eligible deposits.

For deposits below Rs 3 crore with maturities of 180 days to less than three years, senior citizens receive an additional 0.50 percentage points, while super senior citizens receive an additional 0.65 percentage points.

The bank has also announced an additional 0.15 percentage points on eligible non-callable fixed deposits above Rs 1 crore for tenures of one to three years.

Non-callable deposits generally do not offer the facility of premature withdrawal.

How to Open a Bank of India Fixed Deposit

Customers can open a fixed deposit by visiting a Bank of India branch or using the bank’s digital banking facilities, including internet banking and the BOI Omni Neo app.

Before investing, depositors should check the applicable interest rate for their deposit amount and chosen tenure.

They should also compare callable and non-callable options, as withdrawal conditions can differ.

The revised Bank of India FD rates make select medium-term deposits more attractive, particularly for customers considering the new 500-day scheme.

However, the final return will depend on the deposit amount, tenure and depositor category.
