If you are planning to visit a bank this week, it’s important to check the holiday list first

March has many major festivals like Navratri, Eid al-Fitr, Ram Navami, and Mahavir Jayanti.

Because of this, banks will remain closed on different days in different states.

According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), bank holidays are not the same across the country.

So, always check your city’s holiday list before visiting a branch.

Are Banks Open on March 17?

On Tuesday, March 17, banks are closed in some areas due to Shab-e-Qadr.

Branches are mainly closed in Jammu and Srinagar.

In most other states, banks are open and working as usual.

Bank Holiday List for This Week

Here’s a simple breakdown of when banks will be closed in different states:

March 19 (Thursday):
Banks will remain closed in many states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Rajasthan, and others due to festivals like Gudi Padwa, Ugadi, and Navratri.

March 20 (Friday):
Banks will be closed in places like Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh for Eid-ul-Fitr and Jamaat-ul-Vida.

March 21 (Saturday):
Banks will be closed in many states due to Eid and Sarhul.

However, some cities may remain open.

March 22 (Sunday):
Banks will be closed across India due to the weekend.

Will Banks Be Open on Saturday?

As per RBI rules, banks are closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month.

Since March 21 is the third Saturday, banks will remain open on this day in most parts of the country.

Holidays in the Last Week of March

Bank closures will continue in the last week as well due to major festivals:

March 26: Closed in many states for Ram Navami

March 27: Holiday in states like Bihar, Odisha, and Sikkim

March 28: Closed (fourth Saturday)

March 29: Closed (Sunday)

March 31: Closed in many states for Mahavir Jayanti

What Services Will Still Work?

Even when bank branches are closed, many services will continue to work:

UPI payments

Mobile banking

Internet banking

ATM withdrawals

However, for services like cheque clearing, cash deposit, demand drafts, or KYC updates, you will need to visit the bank when it reopens.

Final Tip for Customers

Before going to the bank, always check the holiday list for your city.

This simple step can save your time and help you avoid unnecessary trouble due to bank closures.
