The Central Government has made it much easier for retiring employees to get their CGHS Pensioner Card.

The Union Health Ministry has linked the CGHS portal with the Bhavishya portal, so pension-related details will now be transferred automatically.

Earlier, employees had to enter the same information twice while applying for the CGHS Pensioner Card. With the new system, that extra step has been removed, making the process faster and more convenient.

No More Re-Entering the Same Details

Previously, after completing the pension process on the Bhavishya portal, employees had to submit a separate application for the CGHS Pensioner Card.

This meant filling in the same personal and pension details again, which often delayed approval.

Now, once pension documents are approved on the Bhavishya portal, the information will automatically appear on the CGHS portal. This will reduce paperwork, speed up verification, and help employees receive their card sooner.

PAN Card Will Be the Main Identity

The Health Ministry has said that the PAN card will serve as the unique identity during the process.

Using PAN will allow both portals to match information in real time, reducing the chances of errors, duplicate records, and incorrect data.

How to Get the CGHS Pensioner Card

After the pension forms are verified, a Pension Payment Order (PPO) will be issued. Employees can then pay their CGHS contribution online through the BharatKosh payment gateway.

Once the payment is successful, the CGHS Pensioner Card will be generated.

Where Can You Download the Card?

After approval, employees will be able to download their CGHS Pensioner Card from both the CGHS portal and the Bhavishya portal, making access easier than before.

Old Application Method Still Available

The Health Ministry has clarified that this digital integration is an additional facility. Employees who prefer the earlier method can still apply for the CGHS Pensioner Card through the official CGHS website.

What Is CGHS?

The Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) provides healthcare services to central government employees and pensioners. At present, the scheme serves around 4.2 million beneficiaries across 80 cities in India.

Under CGHS, beneficiaries receive OPD consultations, free medicines, treatment at government and empanelled hospitals, diagnostic tests at approved centres, and cashless treatment for pensioners at empanelled hospitals.

In emergency situations, treatment expenses at eligible government and private hospitals can also be reimbursed as per CGHS rules.

The new digital system is expected to save time, reduce paperwork, and make the CGHS Pensioner Card process much smoother for retiring central government employees.
