Consumers who have taken a Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connection will now have to surrender their domestic LPG cylinders. As per the new rules, no household is allowed to use both PNG and LPG connections at the same time.
The District Supply Office (DSO) has issued strict instructions regarding this. If a consumer fails to surrender their LPG connection after taking PNG, their gas supply may be disconnected.
No Dual Gas Connection Allowed
According to the new guidelines, households cannot keep two active gas connections. Only PNG or LPG can be used, not both together.
The district currently has around 4.68 lakh domestic gas consumers and more than 650 commercial connections.
Gas supply is managed through 39 agencies of major companies like Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum.
Officials say LPG demand has increased in recent months, leading to long queues at gas agencies in many areas.
Push to Promote PNG Network
To reduce pressure on LPG distribution, authorities are encouraging more people to switch to PNG connections.
District officials have also clarified that households already using PNG must surrender their LPG cylinders immediately.
Consumers can complete the surrender process either online or by contacting their gas agency.
Meanwhile, PNG pipeline work is expanding quickly across the district. The pipeline network has already been completed in 14 major areas, and further expansion is underway to improve gas supply in urban regions.
