Renault Duster Strong Hybrid has launched in India with a starting introductory price of Rs 16.99 lakh and a claimed mileage of 29 km/l.
The new SUV combines a petrol engine with two electric motors, offering buyers a fuel-efficient alternative to conventional petrol-powered SUVs.
The Renault Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 is available in three variants, with prices going up to Rs 19.49 lakh for the top-spec Emotion model.
The launch adds a strong-hybrid powertrain to Renault’s midsize SUV lineup as competition in India’s hybrid car market grows.
Renault Duster Strong Hybrid Price and Variants
The new Renault Duster Strong Hybrid comes in Evolution, Techno and Emotion variants. Their introductory ex-showroom prices are as follows:
Evolution: Rs 16.99 lakh
Techno: Rs 18.99 lakh
Emotion: Rs 19.49 lakh
These are introductory ex-showroom prices, and buyers should check with authorised Renault dealerships for applicable offers and final on-road costs.
The on-road price may vary depending on the city, insurance, registration charges and other applicable expenses.
Renault Duster Strong Hybrid Mileage and Engine
The Renault Duster Strong Hybrid uses a 1.8-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine paired with two electric motors and a 1.4 kWh battery pack.
The E-Tech 160 hybrid system delivers a combined output of around 160 PS and works with a dedicated multi-mode automatic transmission.
Renault claims an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 29 km/l.
The company also claims a driving range of up to 1,400 km on a full tank under suitable conditions. Actual mileage and range will depend on traffic, road conditions, driving style and other factors.
One key advantage is that the SUV does not need to be plugged into an external charger.
Its hybrid battery receives energy through regenerative braking and the vehicle’s powertrain, making it different from a plug-in hybrid or a fully electric vehicle.
The system can automatically switch between electric power, petrol power and a combination of both according to driving conditions.
Renault also claims that the SUV can run in electric mode for up to 80% of the time during city driving under suitable conditions.
Features Available Across the Three Variants
The entry-level Evolution variant includes a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, a seven-inch digital driver display, dual-zone automatic climate control and 18-inch wheels.
The Techno variant adds features such as a panoramic sunroof, keyless entry and connected-car technology.
Buyers choosing the top-spec Emotion variant get features including ventilated front seats, electrically adjustable front seats, a powered tailgate and a larger 10.25-inch digital driver display.
The hybrid battery also comes with an announced warranty of eight years or 160,000 km, subject to the applicable warranty terms.
Buyers should confirm the precise coverage and conditions with Renault before making a purchase decision.
How the Duster Hybrid Compares With Rivals
The Renault Duster Strong Hybrid enters a competitive segment that includes the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Strong Hybrid, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Maruti Suzuki Victoris Strong Hybrid.
Its claimed 29 km/l fuel efficiency could appeal to people who regularly drive in cities or cover long distances.
The self-charging hybrid setup may also suit buyers who want electric assistance without the need to install or access an external charging point.
However, mileage figures alone do not determine the overall cost of owning a car.
Buyers should compare the final on-road price, features, warranty coverage, maintenance expenses and real-world fuel economy before choosing between these SUVs.
With three variants, a strong-hybrid powertrain and a claimed range of up to 1,400 km, the new Duster gives customers another option in India’s midsize SUV market.
