Sahara Refund Limit Removed: What Has Changed? New Sahara Refund Helpline Numbers IssuedHow to Apply for a Sahara RefundWhat Should Depositors Do If Their Claim Was Rejected?

The Ministry of Cooperation has announced that applicants can now submit claims for any aggregate amount through the CRCS-Sahara Refund Portal.

The government has also shared new helpline numbers to help depositors with application-related issues.

The update means depositors are no longer restricted by the earlier claim amount limits when submitting or resubmitting their applications.

However, submitting a claim for a higher amount does not automatically guarantee that the entire amount will be refunded. Claims will continue to undergo verification under the prescribed process.

Sahara Refund Limit Removed: What Has Changed?

The Ministry of Cooperation shared an update on October 29, 2026, stating that depositors can submit applications for any aggregate claim amount.

Earlier, the refund process had been associated with limits of Rs 50,000 and, in later stages, higher claim amounts through the resubmission facility.

The latest announcement expands the amount for which a depositor can submit a claim.

Applicants must still provide the required deposit details and documents, and the claims will be checked against the records of the concerned cooperative societies.

According to the Ministry’s update, more than Rs 9,585 crore had been refunded to Sahara depositors as of October 22, 2026. The government said the application process is free of charge.

It is important to understand that the removal of the claim submission limit should not be treated as a guarantee of immediate payment of the full deposit.

The refund remains subject to eligibility, document checks and verification.

New Sahara Refund Helpline Numbers Issued

The government has also updated the contact numbers available for depositors seeking assistance with the refund portal.

The new numbers reported in the update are 011-44716198, 011-44716498 and 011-44716887.

Depositors can use the helpline service for assistance with portal-related technical problems and application queries.

Before sharing personal or banking information over a call, applicants should make sure they are communicating through an official government channel.

The refund application process is online, and the government has advised depositors to use the official CRCS-Sahara portal.

Applicants should avoid unofficial agents or anyone demanding money to submit a claim.

How to Apply for a Sahara Refund

Eligible depositors can submit their applications through the CRCS-Sahara Refund Portal.

They should keep their Aadhaar details, an active mobile number linked to Aadhaar and the required deposit documents ready before starting the process.

Applicants need to provide the details requested on the portal, including information related to their membership and deposits.

Their identity and claim details are checked through Aadhaar-based e-KYC and records provided by the concerned societies.

The refund process covers eligible depositors of four Sahara cooperative societies: Sahara Credit Cooperative Society Limited, Saharayn Universal Multipurpose Society Limited, Humara India Credit Cooperative Society Limited and Stars Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited.

The refund is credited directly to the eligible depositor’s Aadhaar-seeded bank account after successful verification.

Applicants should ensure that their Aadhaar is linked to their active mobile number and bank account.

What Should Depositors Do If Their Claim Was Rejected?

Depositors whose earlier applications were marked deficient or whose payments failed can check the resubmission facility on the official portal.

They should first review the reason for the issue and correct the details or documents as required before submitting the claim again.

The Ministry has also advised applicants to follow the prescribed process and use the official portals for fresh claims and corrections.

The resubmission facility is intended to help applicants address errors and complete the verification process.

The Supreme Court has extended the refund disbursement period until December 31, 2026.

Depositors with pending or rejected claims should check their application status and take the required steps without waiting until the deadline.

The latest announcement is significant for people whose deposits exceed the earlier claim limits.

Still, applicants should remember that the removal of the submission limit does not remove the verification requirements or guarantee that every claim will be approved in full.
