The new add-on allows eligible passengers to claim a refund for the fare difference if the price drops after booking, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.

The feature is available for both domestic and international flights and can be used for one-way as well as round-trip bookings.

Under the new feature, travelers can purchase protection while booking their flight ticket. If the eligible fare for the same booking falls later, the passenger may receive a refund for the difference.

For example, if a domestic flight was booked for ₹9,000 and the eligible fare later falls to ₹7,000, the difference is ₹2,000. If all conditions are met, the passenger could receive a refund of up to ₹2,000.

The maximum refund is ₹2,500 per passenger for domestic flights and ₹3,000 per passenger for international flights.

How Long Is the Protection Valid

The protection starts from the time the flight booking is made and remains valid until six hours before the scheduled departure.

Eligible passengers can claim the refund within 30 days after completing their journey. The claim remains subject to the conditions applicable to the Price Drop Protection feature.

This protection is not included for free with the flight ticket. Passengers have to purchase it separately as an add-on during the booking process.

For domestic flights, the starting charge is ₹229 per passenger. For international flights, the charge starts at ₹349 per passenger.

For instance, if a passenger books a domestic flight for ₹11,000 and pays ₹229 for the protection, a later eligible fare reduction of ₹2,000 could result in a refund of up to ₹2,000.

However, if the fare does not fall, the protection fee paid for the add-on will not be refunded.

Does It Make Early Booking Better

The feature is designed to reduce the risk of losing money if an eligible flight fare falls after an early booking. It does not guarantee that booking early will always result in a lower overall fare.

Instead, the protection provides a possible refund when the eligible fare decreases after booking, subject to the maximum refund limit and other terms.

Travelers should therefore check the applicable conditions, protection fee and refund limits before purchasing the add-on.
