US EB-5 Fees are set to rise for Indian investors seeking a green card through the investment route.
The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has approved higher fees for several forms under the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program, with the new charges taking effect from November 30, 2026.
The fee increase will raise the overall cost for investors and families using the EB-5 programme to seek permanent residency in the United States.
US EB-5 Fees Will Rise From November
The fee for Form I-526, used by individual EB-5 applicants, will increase from $3,675 to $7,615. Applicants will also have to pay a $75 technology fee.
For investors applying through a regional centre, the Form I-526E fee will rise from $3,675 to $7,850, along with the additional $75 technology fee.
The fee for Form I-829, which is used to remove conditions on an investor’s green card, will also increase. It will rise from $3,750 to $5,000.
Regional Center Fees Also Increase
The revised fee structure also affects EB-5 regional centres. The fee for Form I-956, which is related to regional centre designation, will increase from $17,795 to $44,115.
The fee for Form I-956F will also increase to $42,675. USCIS has said that application fees help fund a significant part of the agency’s operations, including application processing, background checks, eligibility verification and fraud prevention.
What Is the EB-5 Program?
The EB-5 programme allows foreign investors to seek permanent residence by investing in an eligible US business project and creating at least 10 full-time jobs.
Under the current rules mentioned in the source, the minimum investment is $1.05 million for a general investment. The minimum is $800,000 for qualifying targeted employment areas or infrastructure projects.
The programme can also provide a route to green cards for the investor’s spouse and eligible children, subject to the applicable requirements.
Why Indian Investors Are Affected
Demand for the EB-5 route from India has increased in recent years, and Indian applicants have also faced a backlog. This can affect the time involved in the green card process.
The higher fees will add to the immigration expenses for Indian investors and families considering the EB-5 route. However, the fee changes do not alter the investment and job-creation requirements described under the separate EB-5 rules.
The revised charges are scheduled to take effect from November 30, 2026, making the date important for applicants planning their EB-5 filings.
