UPS Pensioners Life Certificate submission is mandatory by November 30, 2026, to ensure the uninterrupted continuation of monthly assured pension payouts.
The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has introduced a new digital facility called UPS Jeewan Setu to help eligible pensioners generate and submit their certificates using Aadhaar-based authentication.
The facility was announced through a PFRDA circular dated October 30, 2026.
Pensioners covered under the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) can now complete the annual life certificate process through the NPS by Protean eGov mobile application.
UPS Pensioners Life Certificate Deadline: November 30
PFRDA has made it mandatory for all UPS pensioners to submit their Digital Life Certificate (DLC) every year by November 30.
The certificate confirms that a pensioner is alive and remains eligible to receive monthly assured payouts. According to the regulator, timely submission is important to avoid interruption in pension payments.
The new facility is specifically intended for pensioners covered under the Unified Pension Scheme. It should not be confused with the separate life certificate requirements applicable to other pension categories.
What Is UPS Jeewan Setu Digital Life Certificate?
UPS Jeewan Setu is a mobile application-based facility that allows eligible pensioners to generate their Digital Life Certificate through Aadhaar authentication.
The service is available through the NPS, UPS and APY mobile application provided by Protean eGov.
It uses face authentication to verify the pensioner’s identity and generate the certificate digitally.
The initiative aims to make annual life certificate submission easier by reducing the need for eligible pensioners to depend entirely on physical visits and paperwork.
How to Submit UPS Life Certificate Online: Step-by-Step Process
UPS pensioners can generate their Digital Life Certificate by following the procedure provided by PFRDA.
First, open the NPS, UPS and APY mobile application on your smartphone. Select the option named UPS Jeewan Setu – Digital Life Certificate from the home screen.
Next, enter your Permanent Retirement Account Number (PRAN) and date of birth. An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number, which must be entered to continue.
After verification, select Aadhaar and enter your Aadhaar number. Choose the Continue with Aadhaar option and complete the authentication process.
The next step is to select Face Authentication. Once the authentication is successful, the system will generate the Digital Life Certificate.
A confirmation message will appear on the screen indicating that the Life Certificate has been generated successfully. Tap Done to complete the process and exit the application.
The certificate will be validated through Aadhaar authentication. Pensioners should ensure that the successful generation confirmation appears before closing the app.
Details Pensioners Should Keep Ready
Before starting the online process, pensioners should keep their PRAN, date of birth and Aadhaar details available.
They should also have access to the mobile number registered with their pension account because an OTP is required during verification.
A compatible smartphone and a working camera are needed to complete face authentication.
If the authentication process fails, pensioners should check their details and follow the instructions available through the application.
It is advisable not to wait until the final day to complete the process. Submitting the certificate early will allow time to resolve any technical or authentication-related issues.
PFRDA Asks Nodal Offices to Inform Pensioners
PFRDA has advised nodal offices to spread awareness about the new digital facility among eligible UPS pensioners.
These offices have been asked to explain how the application works and remind pensioners about the November 30 submission deadline.
The regulator has emphasised that timely compliance is necessary to ensure the continuation of monthly assured payouts without interruption.
UPS pensioners should therefore complete their annual life certificate submission before November 30, 2026, and retain confirmation that the certificate has been successfully generated.
