Axis Bank credit card users should get ready for some important changes.

Starting August 28, 2026, the bank is updating several credit card rules that could affect your spending, rewards, and payment charges.

These changes will mainly impact international transactions, gift card purchases, and customers with high outstanding dues.

Paying in INR Abroad Will Become More Expensive

Axis Bank is increasing the Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) markup from 1.5% to 3.5%.

DCC is applied when you choose to pay in Indian Rupees (INR) instead of the local currency while shopping, dining, or staying at hotels abroad.

With the higher DCC charge, paying in INR outside India will cost more than before.

To avoid extra charges, choosing the local currency for international card payments may be a better option.

No Reward Points on Gift Card Purchases

From August 28, gift card purchases will be treated as a separate spending category.

Customers will no longer earn reward points or cashback on gift card purchases.

These spends will also not be counted for spend-based fee waivers or milestone benefits on eligible Axis Bank credit cards.

This means buying gift cards will no longer help you earn extra card benefits.

Higher Late Payment Charges

Axis Bank is also increasing the late payment fee for customers with large unpaid credit card bills.

Customers with an outstanding balance of more than ₹50,000 will have to pay a late fee of ₹1,300.

New Late Payment Fee Structure

Up to ₹500: No late fee

₹501 to ₹5,000: ₹500

₹5,001 to ₹10,000: ₹750

₹10,001 to ₹50,000: ₹1,200

Above ₹50,000: ₹1,300

These new credit card rules will take effect from August 28, 2026. Reviewing your payment habits and spending pattern before the new rules come into force can help you avoid extra charges

and make the most of your credit card benefits.
