Banks across India are open today because it is the first Saturday of the month.

How Saturday Bank Holidays Work

As per the rules set by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks follow a fixed schedule.

Banks remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month

All Sundays are holidays

Banks stay open on the first and third Saturdays

So, since today is the first Saturday, all banking services are working as usual.

All Major Banks Are Open Today

Whether it’s government or private banks, all are open today.

This includes major banks like State Bank of India and HDFC Bank, along with cooperative banks, regional rural banks, and small finance banks.

When Will Banks Be Closed in May?

If you are planning your work ahead, here are the important bank holidays in May:

May 1 – Closed for May Day/Buddha Purnima

May 9 – Second Saturday (holiday)

May 23 – Fourth Saturday (holiday)

May 27 – Closed for Bakrid/Eid al-Adha

Apart from these dates, banks will remain open on working days.
